GWAC's December Face-to-Face Meeting

Abstract: "The talk will explore the historical journey of electricity systems—from the War of the Currents and the rise of centralized thermal generation to the nuclear era, market liberalization, and the rapid expansion of renewable energy; a power sector in rapid transformation—where fossil fuels are giving way to renewables, hydrogen, and advanced storage, all woven together by digital intelligence. It will argue that the evolution is not only about cleaner sources, but about building a truly smart sector: decentralized, data-driven, and adaptive, where grids, industries, and consumers interact seamlessly. At the end Dr. Najib H Dandachi will share a personal perspective and vision of how tomorrow’s power sector may transform our economies and societies”.

Dr. Dandachi has a Ph.D in Electrical Power Systems from Imperial College, London. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the Power and Water Sector where he occupied a number of executive roles having worked at National Grid, UK, in the GCC Power & Water Authorities and in West Africa. 

He is a recognized thought leader and a strategist in the Utilities Sector; he is seasoned engineering and business executive with achievements on master planning, asset management, operational excellence and capital investment planning in privatized environment.

Dr. Najib is the founder and CEO of Al Usul Ltd and is involved in advisory capacity on Energy transition and the deployment of Renewable Energy Programs in several countries. He has recently founded and is the Chairman of the UAE Chapter of the Institute of Asset Management.
