RE+ Las Vegas - GWAC Tutorial
–Title: SEPA GWAC Workshop
Date: Tuesday, November 17, 2026
Time: 12:30pm to 4:30pm
Meeting Room: W213
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center
GWAC Workshop Tutorial registration is now open! Agenda in development.
GWAC presents, “The New Energy Landscape”
This tutorial offers an accessible, systems of-systems introduction to the rapidly evolving energy landscape. Participants will explore how customer owned technologies such as inverter-based resources, EV charging infrastructure, controllable loads, and automation enable dynamic grid interactions. The tutorial examines critical cross sector dependencies across transportation, communications, natural gas, and the electric grid, helping attendees understand how modernization decisions in one domain influence resilience and performance in others. Finally, we discuss the operational and governance frameworks needed to coordinate a decentralized grid, highlighting accountability structures, and scalable approaches to balancing physical, economic, and cybersecurity constraints.

Abstract: How will building decarbonization and electrification affect the US Power Grid? Is the grid ready to handle a large increase in distributed energy resources? What will be the impacts on your electric bill and those of your clients, customers, and neighbors? Is there a role for policy and regulation? Will we have enough power to meet the grid future state? These questions and more will be discussed in this engaging seminar hosted by the US Department of Energy sponsored GridWise Architecture Council.

Bridging to the Future: Navigating the Transition to 21st Century Power Systems
Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026
Time: 10am - 11:30am Pacific Time
Presented by Ron Ambrosio, GridWise Architecture Council
Abstract: The global electric power sector is undergoing its most profound transformation since its founding over a century ago. Power systems are shifting from a centralized, one-directional, fossil-fuel-based past toward an increasingly decarbonized, decentralized, and participative future. The scale of change represents a true systems transformation challenge. Navigating this complexity requires new tools and governance approaches that will be explored in this session.
