Ahlmahz Negash
Ahlmahz Negash is a Senior Power Analyst at Tacoma Power in the Long-Term Resource Planning and Analysis group. Her role encompasses a wide range of analytical and project management activities, including, managing the integrated resource plan (IRP), resource modeling, evaluating policy impacts, and developing and implementing innovative demand-side solutions. Over the past 6 years, Ahlmahz has proposed, led and worked on a variety of projects related to demand response and the integration and valuing of distributed energy resources.
In addition to her research background, Ahlmahz brings to every work project quite a broad spectrum of life experiences. After her first two years of college, Ahlmahz took a 10-year academic break to travel the world, teach English and volunteer. This international experience helped to instill in her a strong sense of community – a characteristic that drives her desire to consider societal impacts and equity in every aspect her work.
Ahlmahz is originally from California and holds a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Washington.
