Ron Chebra
Ron is the Executive Director of the Chebra Consulting Group, an independent consultancy focused on bringing automation, integration and innovation to the Energy Utility marketplace. By leveraging his extensive background and experience, he provides his clients with insights, strategies and direction that help them achieve their business goals.
Prior to starting his own firm, Ron was Vice President of Grid Modernization at EnerNex, where he supported a variety of grid improvement programs including microgrids, distribution automation and systems architecture design. Prior to joining EnerNex, he was a Distinguished Solutions Architect for Verizon Enterprise Services leveraging their IoT Platform as a Service (PaaS) for device and system connectivity. Before joining Verizon, Ron was a founding member of Schneider Electric’s Utility Consulting Group, where he worked on utility business transformation projects and integrating microgrids, Ron’s experience includes DNV/KEMA where he was Vice President of and Practice Lead for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) effort, where he helped several utilities with their business case and technology assessment of this technology.
Ron held leadership roles with the Automatic Meter Reading Association (AMRA/Utilimetrics); was on the advisory committee for Distributech and gave courses on telecommunications systems for utility applications.
He currently serves on T&D World Advisory Committee; Ron is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is the Vice Chair of the IEEE New Jersey Coast Section. He is also Chair of the local IEEE Consultants Network, and Vice Chair of the local IEEE Power Engineering Society (PES). Ron is also active with the Rotary Club of Great Bay where he volunteers his time in support community projects.
